Jennifer the Thoughtful

July 1st, 2010

Jennifer and Tim’s wedding last spring was beautiful in so many ways: Jennifer and Tim are among the warmest folks we have had the good fortune to shoot for.  Just the other day I was saying to Sam that its the brides who think of others on the day of their wedding who truly impress me.  I’ll never forget arriving at the Mill the day of Jenn and Tim’s wedding because Jenn ran up to greet a very pregnant version of me with a hug and a gift bag containing a beautiful silver spoon for the baby.  I was floored, I couldn’t believe that in all the hullabaloo of wedding planning, of all the things she had to remember to bring with her that day, she had taken the time out to think of our family much less bring us a gift.  Predictably, I started crying and blamed it on the hormones.

We are so fortunate to shoot for so many brides and grooms who are beautiful people like that.

When Sestra Bridal got in touch to ask if we would share photos for their blog, that Jennifer had wanted to share her story I thought: how Jenn is that?  Of course she would take time out of her super busy day to offer a recommendation for a vendor she had a great experience with, she’s just that kind of gal.   So check out Jennifer’s story on the Sestra Bridal blog.  Congrats to Sestra for a job well done and congrats to  Jenn and Tim on this first, beautiful year of marriage they have enjoyed together.

Worthington Photography is Facebook Official

April 8th, 2010

facebookmat

We know, we know, its about dern time – we’re finally up on Facebook.  We’re excited to make it even easier for our clients to share their wedding photos with family and friends and we’re hoping to foster a better community feel since commentary seems easier to do on FB than blogs.  If you fan us you’ll get not only our eternal gratitude and regular blog feed but bonus material as well: after realizing that most of our clients are photo enthusiasts themselves we thought it might be fun to share a weekly photo thought on our status each Monday.   It gives me a chance to reconnect with the photo teacher I miss being sometimes and maybe we’ll get some of y’all posting your own photos up there too.  Its good to share the photo love.   And you might even see our new “mascot”, Yashicamat 124-G making an appearance from time to time as well.   As my very first medium format camera and good luck charm (its photos got me into grad school), I’ve got a soft spot for this metal box.

Visit us soon!

Here’s a sneak peek at a few of the options in our new, Museum Art Book catalog.  There are 19 different style options total with a variety of bindings, fine art papers and extras available to make each book unique.  With prices starting at $1500 for a custom design, 13×10 or 10×10 book with 100 pages, Fiver isn’t the only one drooling in this office.  I can’t wait to design his first year book!  (Maybe he should turn a year old first…)

Roscoe’s Nursery on Spearmint Baby

March 11th, 2010

roscoesnurseryswatch

While shooting Roscoe’s newborn portraits last May, Jacqueline told me how much Sam and I were going to enjoy the process of preparing Fiver’s nursery.  She explained that she and Andy would spend time on Roscoe’s room as a way to connect with him before the birth, that it was a creative outlet for loving someone you couldn’t see or touch or hold yet.   Sure enough, our anticipation exploded into a flurry of paint, sculpture, and furniture last summer and I still love photographing the details of a baby’s nursery because I am reminded of the excitement behind every detail and decision.

I was excited to hear that some of the nursery photos from Roscoe’s 2 week session are featured today on Spearmint Baby, it remains one of my favorites to have photographed with its dreamy, muted colors and vintage wallpaper tree collage.  And of course, the famous knit bunny.  If you want to full scoop on the nursery, visit Jacqueline’s super fun blog, Marbles Rolling, and if you want to visit a great collection of creative nurseries for inspiration, definitely check out the featured nurseries on Spearmint Baby!

And yes (Carolyn), I will submit Fiver’s nursery one day.   If I can ever get all the toys picked up!
