Kristen & John’s wedding brought us back to the Gardens at Sunday Park, a lovely spot right on the water in Brandermill. I loved Kristen’s sculptural and sassy dress as well as her vintage inspired hairpiece, check it out:
Though thunder loomed in the background, it never rained a drop and we even got a spectacular sunset on the water:
John is a fishing enthusiast so each table was named after a fish complete with an antique illustration and description, many of which thrive right here in the James river. And then the groom’s cake was a giant bass! The ladies looked so lovely in peach but one could make the argument that they were wearing salmon. It was truly refreshing to see so much of the groom’s interests reflected in the decor, we don’t see that too often. Sam and I are both interested in fishing in our own ways so we were totally hooked.
Speaking of great choices, Kristen and John chose served their favorite cake in the city as wedding cake and it just so happens that its our very favorite too: tres leche cake from Kuba Kuba! We ate at Kuba Kuba for years before we decided to try what appeared to be a very plain and ordinary cake… with an unusual amount of patrons ending their meal with a slice. As we learned, once you order it there’s no going back. You’ll just have to trust us and try it and see.
Here’s a slideshow with our favorites from the day and if you would like to be notified by email when the online gallery is available click here. What a beautiful day, thanks so much for inviting us to be part of it!
