Far but Close

I need a change of scenery – badly.  Phil saw his shadow today and while seasonal info isn’t best taken from a groundhog, there’s little doubt that winter is here to stay for awhile.

It doesn’t help that we miss them so much.  Evenings together always ran late night while a pack of boys tore through one house or the other in a fit of giggles with the occasional scrape.  It felt less like we had an only child on those winter nights.  When they made Colorado their home we lost nearby neighbors but not close friends.  We can still string along a group text forever and Alicia and I regularly communicate using almost entirely Brittany Spears GIFs – a skill we have really fine tuned since the move.   I just wish we could visit in person more often.

I’m grateful I get to take the family pictures each year so I brought the gear with me on that last visit.  We’ll be back next fall for sure.  I needed to reminisce a bit today, we miss y’all.

Oh, and a cameo appearance of my boys at the end as they were finishing a brief hike…
